How Do I Recognize Bed Bug Bites
Do you think you or one of your loved ones has bed bug bites? There are several distinct characteristics that you can recognize.
Different people respond in a different way to the bites. Some people have insects in bed and do not even know it! These people do not have any effect on their skin as they get bitten by bedbugs. Alternatively, some people increase huge rashes or itching feeling from bed bugs. They develop red marks on their skin that can itch a lot. As the bites increase with larger bed bug infestation, a person can get bitten many times every night! Imagine itching constantly! If you have bed bugs, you are probably getting bitten every night. If you think you might have bed bugs, but you were only bitten one time, you probably don’t have bed bugs.
The bites often appear as red spots or welts on the skin. As I stated, they will itch or burn for a few days. Bed bug symptoms are sometimes misdiagnosed by doctors. This is not rare as many dermatologists are not actively looking for infestations. In most cases, you may not feel anything. They feel similar to mosquito bites because you often don’t feel anything when they bite you.
If you are still not sure if you have bed bug bites, you need to inspect your room for bedbugs. Start inspecting your room by checking your mattress and box spring. If you have bed bugs, you’ll most likely find bed bugs here. Start by checking your sheets and comforter. Then take apart your bed until your mattress and box spring are exposed. Check all of the mattress seams and other hard to see areas around your mattress. Finally, check your box spring everywhere if you still haven’t found bedbugs. Take the cover off your box spring, as bed bugs could be in there.
